The Comet Energy team has significant technical, commercial and financial experience developing large scale energy projects in Africa, South America and Europe.

James White

Chief Executive Officer

17 years of experience across various leadership roles in the international energy industry, with extensive exposure in a wide range of African projects.
Proven track record in development optimization and expansion of energy projects across both the renewable and oil & gas sectors.
Successfully led new business development teams to explore new country entries as well as expand and develop in existing regions.
Qualified chartered geologist (Pgeo), Project Management (PMP) with a BSC (Hons) Geology from NUI Galway.

David Quirke

Chief Financial Officer

20 years of senior finance leadership roles across the international energy industry.
Previously CFO of United Oil & Gas plc (AIM) & Group Treasurer of Tullow oil plc(FTSE 100).
Strategy, Capital Raising, M&A, Governance, JV Management, Investor Relations &Financial Reporting.
Qualified chartered management accountant with a BA in Law and Accounting from the University of Limerick.

Buhle Hlatshwayo

External Affairs Advisor

18 years of experience in international energy projects.
Over 5 years of Senior Leadership and Asset Management in Southern Africa.
Management of Energy Resources, Sustainability, Stakeholder Management, New Business Development, JV Management’s.
MBA Candidate (Energy and Sustainability) from UCAM, Spain, MSc inOil and Gas Management from University of Liverpool, UK.

William Cheng

Head Of Projects

13 years ofexperience in the global energy sector including the renewable and oil &gas industries.
Has worked across Africa, South America and Europe. With expertise of working on offshore developments in JV partnerships in both renewable and non-renewable sources.
He has led numerous energy projects in his career ranging from deep water drilling campaigns to optimizing developments for offshore wind projects.
Holds a BSc honors degree in Geology and Applied Geophysics from the University of Cape Town.
